A Distinguished Pilot and Officer Has Passed Away – Maj. Maciej “Slab” Krakowian

During a training flight in preparation for the Radom Air Show 2025, on 28 August 2025, an accident involving an F-16 from the 31st Tactical Air Base claimed the life of Maj. Maciej Krakowian. The pilot did not survive.

It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that we received the news of the passing of Maj. Maciej “Slab” Krakowian, an outstanding officer and one of the most accomplished F-16 pilots of the Polish Air Force. Major Krakowian tragically lost his life on Thursday, 28 August, during preparations for this year’s Radom Air Show.

As the leader of the F-16 Tiger Demo Team, “Slab” embodied courage and dedication in service to the Polish Air Force. With 17 years of service and over 1,400 flight hours, he will forever be remembered not only as an exceptional pilot but also as an inspiration to future generations of aviators. May the memory of Maj. Maciej Krakowian remain a source of inspiration, and may his soul rest in peace.

On behalf of the entire Alioth Foundation team, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, friends, and all those who had the honor of serving alongside Maj. Maciej Krakowian.

In this time of mourning, we share in the pain of his family and loved ones, expressing our deepest sympathy.

The Alioth Foundation has launched a special fundraising campaign to support the family of the late pilot.
