On 28 August 2025, Polish Aviation Day, tragedy struck during preparations for the Radom Air Show. In an F-16 crash, Maj. Maciej “Slab” Krakowian – one of the most experienced and decorated pilots of the Polish Air Force, and leader of the Tiger Demo Team – lost his life.

He was 35 years old, with 17 years of service and more than 1,400 flight hours to his name. He often emphasized that flying was not just a profession, but above all a service to the Homeland. He leaves behind his wife, Magdalena, and four-year-old twin daughters, who in a single moment lost their husband and father.

The Alioth Foundation – an organization founded by officers of the Polish Air Force – has, with the family’s consent, launched a special fundraising campaign to support the family of the late pilot.
